Breaking: Assistant Sangamon County State’s Attorney placed on leave after being suspected of D.U.I.

Springfield, Illinois – Sources close to Springfield Leaks has confirmed that an Assistant Sangamon County State’s Attorney has been placed on leave after being pulled over and suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.




Assistant Sangamon County State’s Attorney, Edward J. Brandt, has been placed on leave after a traffic stop that occurred this past weekend.

Brandt, who was seen at the Sangamon County Courthouse this morning, was placed on leave around noon and his cases are being reassigned to other State’s Attorneys to handle, according to a Springfield Leaks source.




Brandt is the chief prosecutor of the Juvenile Division in the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office, according to employee records we received in June 2019. Brandt, who was hired in August 2011, makes $56,732.33 annually.

At this time, it is unknown how long Brandt will be placed on leave. A Springfield Leaks Law Enforcement source did confirm to us that Brandt was not arrested and was allowed to leave after the traffic stop. According to court records, there aren’t any pending D.U.I. charges against Brandt at this time.
