Springfield, Illinois – Around 5:58 p.m., Springfield Police, Sangamon County Sheriff’s Deputies and Illinois State Police responded to the White Oaks mall in Springfield, Illinois for a report of a black male shooting. The suspect was reported as shooting outside the White Oaks Mall Store, Glow Golf. Several witnesses also told police that the suspect also was either shooting at security or in the air.
The suspect was described as a black male in a grey sweat suit.
When police responded the suspect left on foot and entered inside the mall where he was spotted by mall security and police.
Officers were able to located the suspect inside Macys on the upper level and he was taken into custody.
No one was injured.

Update – Officers did locate a shell casing outside of the mall.
Update 2 – The suspect’s girlfriend was also with the suspect during the time of the shooting. The suspect’s girlfriend did not want to provide her name to police and she is being described as not being involved in the incident.
