Athens, Illinois – At 8:58 am this morning the Athens Police and Athens Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire in the 500 block of Coneflower Drive in Athens Illinois.
Firefighters removed a 69 year old woman from inside of the home and transported her to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield where she was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The Sangamon County Coroner has identified the 69 year old woman as Carolyn Coffman, of Athens Illinois.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning. The death is under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office and the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshall’s Office
