Springfield, Illinois – Two Public Works employees reported that they tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Mayor Langfelder, the two employees have not been at work this week, but workers that may have come in contact with them were sent for testing.
The City says that they implemented an additional precautionary measure by having Public Works go to their A/B COVID-19 shifts for 14 days. Shift A will work one week and wipe down equipment and shift B will come in the following week.
Mayor Langfelder also says that workers will go directly to the work site instead of using shared vehicles and continue social distancing practices.
