Springfield, Illinois – Yesterday, August 27, 2020, around 4:24 p.m., The Springfield Fire Department was dispatched to the 2900 block of S. State St.
When Firefighter arrived to the scene, they found a single story house with smoke showing. Once they entered the residence to conduct a routine search for occupants, they located only one victim – an unresponsive female.
The female victim, who has been identified as 39 year old Cinnika L. Wilson, was removed from the residence and transported by paramedics to Memorial Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
Investigators were notified a short time later by Memorial Medical Center that Wilson had died as a result of her injuries.
Although the fire was quickly contained by suppression crews, there was moderate fire and heavy smoke damage throughout the residence.
Firefighters cleared the scene at 5:25 p.m.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, and fire investigators are investigating the fires orgin and cause.
