Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Fire Department responded to 710 S. State St., around 5:46 a.m., this morning, for a report of a fire.
When Springfield firefighters arrived on scene there was heavy smoke coming from the home. Inside the home, the fire department found the body of a woman, who has been identified as 24 year old Abby Neisler.
A dog and two cats were also killed in the fire.
Sangamon County Coroner, Cinda Edwards, said, “There were no other human victims of the blaze. The incident is under investigation by the Springfield Police Department as well as the Fire Department and Coroner’s Office.”
“Autopsy findings are not yet completed, updates will be made a more information is available,” said Coroner Edwards.
