
Springfield, Illinois – On February 11, 2020 around 12:21 a.m., Springfield Police responded to a shots fired call in the 2300 block of Westchester Blvd.
Officers report that they observed Marlon J. Williams, age 20, walking east bound on Westchester Blvd. When Officers saw Marlon, they made a u-turn. While making the u-turn, Marlon began running eastbound on Chatham Rd. and then ran east bound into Chatham Hills Apartments.

The Officer got out of his patrol car and ordered Marlon to stop, but he refused and continued to run east bound. Marlon eventually stopped running and laid down on the ground. While Officers were arresting Marlon, they asked him why did he run? Marlon told Officers he ran because he had a gun. Officers were able to locate a gun on Marlon, inside his right coat pocket. The gun had an empty magazine in it and the slide was locked to the rear.
Officers went to the 2300 block of Westchester Blvd., and spoke to a woman at the residence. The woman told police that she was in a verbal argument on the phone with Marlon. The woman said that while she was on the phone with Marlon, he told her to look out of the window. The woman then hung up the phone and began to heard gunshots.
Officer located 13 9mm rounds in front of a residence in the 2300 block of Westchester Blvd. “There were multiple holes inside of (a residence in the 2300 block of Westchester Blvd) in the upstairs bedrooms, and 2 in the living room. The kitchen window also had a hole in it,” one Officer reported.
Marlon was arrested and taken to the Sangamon County Jail and has been charged by the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office with Aggravated discharge of a firearm, a class 1 felony, Possession of a firearm without a FOID Card, a class 3 felony, and Aggravated unlawful use of a firearm, a class 4 felony.
Marlon, who is currently in the Sangamon County Jail, will have to pay 10 percent ($20,000) of his $200,000 bond in order to to be released.
