Chicago Gang Member arrested during a traffic stop for a Ammunition’s Warrant

Springfield, Illinois – On Monday, January 13, 2020, a Chicago, Illinois Gang Member was arrested by a US Marshal for a felony warrant after being spotted entering a dark colored Kia SUV.




According to reports that Springfield Leaks obtained, Bruce J. Britt, age 36, is accused of being in possession of firearm ammunition by a felon on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. Specifically, Bruce, who is a member of the Traveler Lords gang, is said to have been in possession of .22 ammunition.

Although Bruce is accused of possessing firearm ammunition on Wednesday, a warrant wasn’t issued for him until Saturday, January 11, 2020. According to documents we have obtained, an arrest warrant was typed up sometime on Saturday, and was signed by a Sangamon County Judge the same day. According to a law enforcement source, it is not a common occurrence for arrest warrants to be signed on Saturdays, although Judges are “on call” if a warrant is needing to be obtained. With a warrant in hand, a member of the U.S. Marshals team began to look for Bruce.

On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, Bruce was spotted getting into a dark colored Kia S.U.V. in the area of Sherwood Ave and S. 25th St. The U.S. Marshal immediately called back up in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Officers were able to get the vehicle to stop on S. Martin Luther King Jr Dr. and E. Cook St.

The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Springfield Police Department responded to the scene to assist with the traffic stop. After Bruce was taken into custody, his bond was set at $350,000 with 10 percent to apply, so Bruce will need to pay $35,000 to be released.

At this time it appears that the Sangamon County Public Defenders Office is assigned to handle Bruce’s case and he is expected to return to court on January 30, 2020.
